4D Ultrasound

4D is shorthand for four dimensional – the fourth dimension being time. 4D ultrasound takes three dimensional ultrasound images and adds the element of time to the process, resulting in live action images of your unborn child. The GE machine used is one of the best 2D, 3D and 4D ultrasound machines available.

The ideal time to perform this service is between 27 and 32 weeks gestation. More facial features are seen. More fat creates pudgy baby images.

The physicians of Women Partners in OB.GYN are now offering 4D ultrasounds. Our technologists are ARDMS registered and have over 15 years experience in OB ultrasound.

4D ultrasound is not considered a diagnostic procedure and is not covered by insurance. Payment in full is due at the time of the appointment. We accept cash, check or major credit cards.

Imaging Package

• 4D ultrasound package: $200.00
• CD downloaded images with two to four machine generated
• 3D images (still photos)
• 4D video segment

The price for imaging twins is $400.00. Each twin will receive separate photos. Twins should be scanned between 25 and 28 weeks for 3D and 4D.

A $25.00 sitting fee will be charged if the baby is not in a good position and the images cannot be obtained.

Friends and family are welcome at the 4D session but please note that children must be watched and may distract you and your family from watching the baby.

Please drink extra water for a few days prior to your session to increase the amount of amniotic fluid surrounding the baby. This will help provide the best images possible. Drinking a glass of orange juice 45-60 minutes before your scan may help the baby to be more active.

We promise to make every effort to get you the best possible images of the baby but we CANNOT promise you that the images will be similar to those you may have seen elsewhere. Every baby ultrasound is different based on the gestational age, position, amount of amniotic fluid, placental location, mother’s size and location of baby parts that may interfere with views of the baby’s face. While we always try our best, we cannot guarantee that we will always meet everyone’s expectations.
